Technical Characteristics

Technical characteristics of the Simplicity Line.

Steel:

A good steel is the basis for a good knife – after all, what is it to have everythin else done right on a knife that can´t keep an edge? The Simplicity knives are made of steels capable of keeping a good edge for a long period and that can be sharpened with relative ease -  5160 and 1075.

Heat Treatment:

It is said that the heat treatment is the “spirit” of a blade and, although not esoteric at all, I like this analogy as a competent heat treatment will assure that the qualities of the steel used all show up at its best. Each Simplicity blade is sellectivell hardened – you can clearly see the temper line across it – tempered and tested individually by me at my shop.

Grind Style:

The so called ”Scandi grind” – Scandinavian style rind  – is used in all te Simplicity line. It is a short grind that goes directly to the edge and allows for it to be very, very sharp and easy to sharpen without the need of special knowledge or equipments. This grind style is perfect for blades 1/8″ thick or less and the fact that it has been used since the Viking days says a lot about its efficience.

Handle:

Made of wood, horn, stag or synthetic materials like g-10, these handles aim for functionality, having a confortable, safe and neutral shape that allow the user to hold it in a variety of positions for every situation.

Sheathes:

Made of kydex or leather, they are simple and practical models made to protect the user as much as the knife  and assure a cofortable and safe carry.
