Damascus Steel and Bottled Fire

This elegante piece uses some of the finest materials I ever worked with in its construction. Its blade is damascus steel from American maker Chad Nichols, who specialize in exotic patterns like you see here, and the handle is a great piece of amboyna burl, one of the rarest woods in the world, and with its colorful and convolute figure it really does justice to its nickname, “bottled fire”. As a matter of fact, it is the first time I use both of these materials and since I received them, almost at the same time,  I have been thinking about a project to put them togheter, and it has become reality very naturally, in an elegat knife wit plain lines that highlight the stunning materials it is made of.
